Life Support for Healthcare Providers CPR/AED
All employees in healthcare settings need this course. This course covers infant, child and adult techniques for choking
and CPR training.Also included is information on heart attacks,
stroke, AED (defibrillator) training and use of barrier devices.

Clinical Tasks for Medical Assistants

EKG Technician
The EKG Tech course offers the skills
necessary to perform EKG tracings of the heart. This 30-hour program
is designed to be an introduction to the cardiovascular system
and related terminology with an emphasis on performing 12-lead
EKG tracings and basic rhythm identification. Students will be
instructed in patient preparation, medical ethics, and legal aspects

Nurses' Aide Training
This course will prepare you to take the State Certification Exam. Many area hospitals and nursing homes are looking for CNAs. This is a great and rewarding way to begin your health career. The Nurse’s Aide course covers basic nursing skills, personal care skills, and recognition for mental health and social service needs, basic restorative services and resident rights. Assist in taking vital signs of patients and meet their hygiene, safety, nutrition, exercise, elimination, comfort and oxygen needs. Employment opportunities exist at: hospitals, nursing homes, home health care agencies, domiciliary care and residential care facilities. Uniforms and certification fees are not included in tuition. A Mantoux test is required prior to clinical rotation. An entrance exam is given during orientation. Must be able to lift, push, move, and turn at least 50 lbs. Final acceptance depends upon an acceptable CORI. No refunds are given due to an unacceptable CORI.

Basic Anatomy and Physiology
This course is recommended for those entering the health field especially Medical Coding. It is designed to explore and understand the body’s structure and investigate the functions for living things. Topics include terminology of location position, the body as a whole, skeletal and articular systems, muscular system, nervous system, lymphatic system, immune system, respiratory system, digestive system, endocrine system and integumentary system. Students will be reintroduced to or learn for the fist time the basics of three introductory levels of anatomy: developmental anatomy, gross anatomy, and systemic anatomy. They will also learn the basics of four levels of physiology: cell physiology, systemic physiology, neurophysiology,
and cardiovascular physiology. Hands-on lab investigations, multi-media learning tools, and “take-with-you” materials and resources are included in every class.

Zumba
Have fun and get fit doing Zumba. Zumba is great for all fitness levels and all ages. Zumba uses Latin music and easy dance routines featuring aerobic and fitness interval training done to a combination of fast and slow rhythms that sculpt the body. It was developed by Colombian fitness trainer Beto Perez who forgot his music for a class and improvised by using the tape he had in his car. He called it “Rumbacize.” Perez brought the style to the United States in 1999 and, with two partners, created Zumba and launched the
program worldwide.

Medical Billing and Coding
Certificate Program
The career of Medical Billing and Coding is one of the fastest growing careers in the health care industry today! Medical Billing and Coding Specialist are employed in hospitals, physicians’ offices, health care insurance agencies, nursing homes, and health clinics.
Upon successful completion of Medical Terminology, Anatomy & Physiology, Medical Billing/Coding/Medisoft, Medical Coding I and Medical Coding II students will receive a Medical Billing and Coding Certificate. This certificate prepares you for the National Certified Professional Coder (CPC) certification exam offered through the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC). |
Patient Care Technician Certificate Program (PCT)
Patient Care Technicians work with doctors, nurses and other health care professionals to provide direct patient care in a variety of health care invironments especially hospitals and other acute care settings. Duties include:
- Monitor/record vital signs, temperature, blood pressure, pulse, respiration
- Assist in medical exams
- Perform CPR and First Aid
- Perform basic lab work, phlebotomy
- Assist patients with nutrition, mobility, and grooming
- Observe, record and report patients' physical, mental and emotional conditions
- Insert and irrigate urinary catheters
- Perform dry sterile dresing changes
