Interested in exploring the world of veterinary medicine? Learn the skills needed to become a functional part of a veterinary team. Topics in this course include, but are not limited to: Office and Hospital Procedures, Communication and Client Relations, Animal Restraint, Medical Terminology, Pharmacy, Lab Procedures, Radiology, Surgical Preparation, Small Animal Nursing, Basic First Aid and CPR. This class provides the student with a certificate of completion. The student must attend 7 of the 9 lectures in order to receive their certificate of completion. As each class is 3 hours there is a significant amount of material covered.
Textbook: Veterinary Assisting by Beth Vanhorn & Robert W. Clark.
Instructor: Elise McAllister has been in the animal industry for over 10 years, teaching at agricultural high schools and dog training. She has a yellow Labrador named Revis who is a certified therapy dog. Elise enjoys all animals and believes in positive reinforcement for training exercises and error free learning for happy fulfilled pets!
