Course Description:

Interested in exploring the world of veterinary medicine? Learn the skills needed to become a functional part of a veterinary team. Topics in this course include, but are not limited to: Office and Hospital Procedures, Communication and Client Relations, Animal Restraint, Medical Terminology, Pharmacy, Lab Procedures, Radiology, Surgical Preparation, Small Animal Nursing, Basic First Aid and CPR.  This class provides the student with a certificate of completion.  The student must attend 7 of the 9 lectures in order to receive their certificate of completion.  As each class is 3 hours there is a significant amount of material covered.

Instructor: Elise McAllister has been in the animal industry for over 10 years, teaching at agricultural high schools and dog training. She has a yellow Labrador named Revis who is a certified therapy dog. Elise enjoys all animals and believes in positive reinforcement for training exercises and error free learning for happy fulfilled pets!

Course Description:

The goal of Level 1 class is to train you to train your dog to be a nice companion dog and family pet. You and your puppy will work for 6 weeks on perfecting the basic commands including:

  • Heeling on Leash

  • Sit and Down

  • Sit/Stay  & Down/Stay

  • Off Leash Recall

Requirements: Dogs must be at least 6 months old and if your dog is 6 months or older we will need a copy of a Rabies vaccine certificate and all dogs will need a copy of all current vaccinations will need rabies, distemper and kennel cough as well as proper flea and tick prevention. Please do not bring your dog to the frist class, as it will be an introduction to the trainers and an overview of the course.

Instructor: Elise McAllister: Elise has been in the animal industry for 10+ years. She is a licensed teacher of Veterinary Science at Upper Cape Technical School. Elise is a certified canine trainer through Professional Canine Services and is experienced with basic canine training, therapy dog training and CGC training. Elise is a certified Veterinary Technician and has obtained a Bachelors Degree from the University of New Hampshire.
