This is a relaxed setting where students will begin to use the astounding, versatile, crazy-making, ever-morphing, wonderful language, which is American English. Basic “survival English” vocabulary, asking and answering questions, and an introduction to the language patterns and structures of English are presented and practiced in an enjoyable manner. Don’t sit this class out – you can do this! Make a start and join the many who are beginning to learn English as a second language, or come and gain confidence practicing the English you have already made your own.

Introduction
to Arabic Language and Culture
According to Jim Smith, Executive Director of the Cambridge Center for Adult Education, “taking a course in Turkish or Arabic demonstrates a creative, global vision the company might seek to keep it strong into the future.” Here is an opportunity to learn the basics of the Arabic language, alphabet and culture of the Middle East from a native Egyptian. Focus will be on writing the Arabic alphabet and vocabulary.

Beginning Brazilian Portuguese
Begin to learn the Portuguese language. A knowledge of Portuguese is important to business people, Cape residents, travelers, and to those who are curious about this beautiful language. This class will help students learn the basics of Portuguese. Emphasis will be on conversation, vocabulary and the differences between Portuguese and English grammar. Brazilian Portuguese is growing in demand for businesses. It is also important in social services, healthcare and banking.

This course is an introduction to the Spanish language with emphasis on listening, reading, writing and speaking. New! Introduction to Japanese: Immersion
Konnichiwa! Genki desu ka? Do geisha, sumo, manga, anime, paper cranes, or sushi interest you? Come join us and learn the language and culture of the Land of the Rising Sun. We will study Katakana, Hiragana, and some Kanji (characters) but the main focus will be on every day communication and culture. The last session will be a Japanese business culture workshop for those of you wanting to understand and make deals with Japanese companies.
