Medical Billing & Electronic Health Records Fundamentals - Medical Billing Insurance Electronic Health Record Specialists must be familiar with rules and guidelines of each health plan in order to submit proper documentation. This ensures that offices receive maximum, appropriate reimbursement for services provided. Specialists are employed in Hospitals, Physicians Offices, Health Care Agencies, Nursing Homes, and Healthcare Clinics, Billing Clerks and Technology Firms that provide Consultancy Services for Healthcare Organizations. You will be taught: Procedural skills; learning administrative duties important I the medical practice as well as how to bill payers and patients. Communication skills; working with physicians, patients, payers, and others using both written and oral communication Health Information Management; using a practice management program, and using electronic health records technology to manage patient records and billing/collections, electronically create and transmit claims, and how to conduct research. Medical Coding; Understanding ICD 10 CM, CPT, HCPCS codes, the importance of those codes to be coded correctly in reporting patient scenarios, for encounter forms and health insurance claims. And know the role medical coding plays in insurance claims. HIPAA AND HITECH; applying the rules of HIPAA and HITECH to ensure compliance, maximum reimbursement, and electronic exchange of health information with privacy and security. Hospital Services; background in hospital billing, coding with ICD 10 PCS, AND payment methods, and forms CMS - 1500 and UB-04. Prerequisites are Medical Terminology, Basic Computer skills, weekly access to a computer, email address and internet access.
