"Are you prepared? Are you physically helpful or helpless? Physical empowerment is not about physically prevailing over others; it's about being strong to never be helpless for oneself and to always be potentially helpful to others." Erwan Le Corre

Strength training is one of the pillars of living a healthy life: it can increase bone density and reduce the risk of osteoporosis, help with the management of your weight, and it can increase your metabolism. In addition, muscular strength and conditioning are important because they allow you to do activities like opening doors, lifting boxes or choppoing wood without getting tired. They also have the added benefit of reducing the risk of injury. You deserve to live a life without constant pain and injury, and that's where strength and conditioning comes into play.

Matt West earned a Bachelor of Arts from Suffolk University in 2011 and a Personal Training Certification from the National Academy of Sports and Medicine (NASM). Matt is also a Certified Funtional Strength Coach through the renowed strength and conditioning expert Mike Boyle. He has worked at the Riverview School and most recently as the Assistant Director of Fitness at Living Independently Forever.  Matt also trains clients at the YMCA in Plymouth as well as The Pinehills. He is an advocate for strength and conditioning and believes strongly that every person can greatly benefit from getting stronger and fitter.
