Have you ever wanted to work in public safety? Have you consider a career in Emergency Medical Services? The EMS field is a very exciting one, and is continuing to expand. This Institute for Emergency Medical Education sponsored Emergency Medical Technician Program will start you on your new path. The EMT Program is an invigorating and challenging program that exceeds the mandated training requirements set forth by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, Office of Emergency Medical Services and the National Registry of EMTs, by adding enrichment material and lessons such as AUTO EXTICATION, I.C.S. CERTIFICATION AND MORE. Our program utilizes a blended method of education by combining classroom lectures and skills labs with an interactive website that adds additional interactive activates, program examinations and message boards with chats. The program consists of 139 classroom hours, 48 on- line hours, and a 10 plus hour clinical component in hospital and ambulance settings in which you will conduct a minimum of 5 patient assessments This program is designed to teach you how to conduct emergency medical care in the pre-hospital environment. This is entry level (basic life support) of training in the Emergency Medical Services career field. The program follows the National Scope of Practice for EMTs, and focuses on precise patient assessment and management of trauma and medical emergencies, airway management, resuscitation and pharmacological interventions. This program will develop the student's confidence, knowledge and skills in performing critical assessment and management of patient's with medical and trauma related life threats. It also focuses on development of the EMT’s critical role as a team member during patient crisis situations. Successful completion of the course will allow the student to be considered eligible to take the National Registry for Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) exams. YOU MUST BE 18 YEARS OF AGE AT TIME OF EXAM. YOU MUST BE ABLE TO READ, WRITE AND UNDERSTAND ENGLISH.TEXT BOOKS, UNIFORM (CONSISTS OF CLASS SHIRT AND BLUE PANTS/BOOTS), AND EXAM FEES ARE NOT INCLUDED IN TUTION.
