Coding for CPC Certification Exam Prep
“Revised Condensed CPC Medical Coding Exam
Course" focused on the student Mastering the skills needed for
successfully passing the CPC Certification Exam. No medical coding experience
Prerequisites for this class are good
computer skills, basic knowledge in anatomy and physiology as well as a solid
foundation of medical terminology, problem solving abilities, and ability to
navigate the internet.
This is a 81 hour blended hybrid course focusing on Exam
Preparation for a CPC (Certified Professional Coder) Certification. This course will be two 3 hour in-school
classes blended with a 3 hour Online, Instructor led, student interactive class
each week for 9 weeks. Monday and
Wednesday are in school class and Friday the online web interactive class
This class focuses on and is structured to meet AAPC
requirements for taking the AAPC CPC Certification exam. Classes are designed with hands-on approach
for medical coding within a physician/outpatient facility with ICD 10 and CPT
manuals using AAPC scenarios and coding problems. Students will follow required
guidelines, medical compliance, and correct sequencing using diagnosis and
procedure codes and use of modifiers,
all with emphasis on accuracy. There will be practice exams throughout the
course according to the AAPC certification exam testing using their criteria to
assist the student in becoming more comfortable with the CPC exams. This is helpful for the student and
instructors to measure progress.
STUDENTS will need a computer at home and an email address, basic computer skills, a good knowledge base in Anatomy and Physiology as well as Medical Terminology. Textbooks and manuals used for the course: Step-by-Step Coding Textbook and Workbook, CPT, ICD-10-CM, AND HCPCS MANUALS, ALL OF WHICH ARE PROVIDED BY THE INSTRUCTOR FOR A BOOK RENTAL (SMALL) FEE. STUDENTS NEED TO BRING NOTEBOOKS TO WRITE IN AND OTHER STANDARD CLASSROOM ITEMS.
Instructors will provide the practical coding and testing
coding materials in accordance to AAPC requirements for study and testing for
the CPC exam. With classes finished the student will then be sit for the AAPC
CPC Medical Coding Certificate.
A limited externship can be arranged after the course is finished. The students will be required to pay a small fee to the instructor for the use of the following manuals and textbooks: CPT, ICD-10, Step-by-Step textbooks and workbooks. This will be available for use during the course..
